After Manchester United’s abysmal display against Valencia, the FC panel debate if the result puts their Champions League progression in peril.

Manchester United drew 0-0 against a limited Valencia in the Champions League on Tuesday, an improved performance from their abject showing in the 3-1 Premier League defeat to West Ham United at the weekend. However, the improvement lay largely in their effort, with their creativity greatly lacking. Only Marcus Rashford consistently forced the issue, and the questions over Jose Mourinho’s future will only intensify. This was a game in which they started with an encouraging tempo, but the crowd’s…

Frank Lampard’s Derby County picked up an incredible come-from-behind win over reeling Manchester United in the Carabao Cup thanks in part to a Phil Jones penalty shoot-out miss.
The Carabao Cup saw Manchester United host Derby County, with Jose Mourinho against his former player Frank Lampard — but, sadly for United, the master succumbed to the apprentice. United’s loss – Derby winning 8-7 on penalties, after a 2-2 draw in normal time — was worryingly deserved, with Derby ultimately providing not only much more desire but much more attacking guile than the home side managed to summon. One wonders how Mourinho will react to this outing.

Joao Moutinho’s fantastic second-half goal was enough to give his Wolves side a deserved point at Old Trafford.

Manchester United are enduring a worryingly stop-start season, with their dismissal of Young Boys in midweek followed by a very disappointing 1-1 home draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Of greatest concern was how little creativity United could offer; there was plenty of industry but precious little end product, and Fred’s delightful opener ended up looking like an anomaly.

Positives

Marouane Fellaini and Chris Smalling were industrious and effective, Paul Pogba shone for long periods and…

Shaka Hislop saw a complete performance from Manchester United in their win over Watford, but still sees room for improvement.
It’s been a pivotal few months for Marouane Fellaini, and in order to explain why that is, it helps to look towards Hollywood. A few years ago, when Matthew McConaughey put together a run of spectacular performances, the film world heralded the Texan’s surge towards greatness, dubbing it “the McConaissance.” McConaughey, who had been known mainly for his parts in high-profile comedies, was suddenly the centrepiece of some of the big screen’s most worthy and serious dramas. McConaughey, reflecting…

Manchester United ended up with ten men but still managed to pick up their second consecutive away victory in the Premier League.

Manchester United claimed a 2-1 win away to an impressive Watford side, in a match where they claimed control and then conceded it. After going two goals clear by half-time, ultimately, they had to withstand some ferocious late pressure from the home team to pick up all three points. Once again, they ultimately had the brilliance of David De Gea to thank, but in ending Watford’s 100 percent league record they provided the type of resilience you would expect from an elite outfit. It is all the…

ESPN FC’s Steve Nicol believes Marcus Rashford isn’t progressing at Manchester United and needs to move on to further his career.

Early in England’s UEFA Nations League match against Spain, Marcus Rashford gave a taste of what might yet be. The forward strolled onto a sublime through-ball from Luke Shaw, his Manchester United teammate, and finished with a single, supremely confident touch. His movement and self-assurance were of the highest quality.

For some, there may have been a reminder of his breakthrough season for United, when he played as an orthodox centre-forward and briefly looked as though he would play there…

The FC crew point to Man United’s first-half performance at Burnley as the expectation for how Jose Mourinho’s side should play all the time.

Watford maintain their scintillating start to the season, beating a loaded Tottenham side and maintaining their perfect record heading into the international break.
It has been a busy and momentous few months for Romelu Lukaku. He was instrumental in Belgium’s advance to the World Cup semifinals, scoring four times and being hailed by Roberto Martinez, his national team’s manager, as the “perfect” striker for his country.
His two against Burnley in Manchester United’s 2-0 victory have given him three goals in four Premier League games, a match which also saw him draw level with the Premier League tally of Didier Drogba — 104 goals — an amount which he achieved…

Jose Mourinho abruptly ends his press conference after Man United’s loss to Tottenham, saying he deserves respect for his Premier League success.

Jose Mourinho reacts to Manchester United’s 3-0 loss at home against Tottenham, and heaps praise on the fans at Old Trafford.

Tottenham took control of the second half at Manchester United, burying three goals in the Theatre of Dreams to up the pressure on Jose Mourinho.
Jose Mourinho and Manchester United should probably part ways sooner rather than later, but that probably won’t happen. Why? Well for reasons both emotional and financial, it’s just too painful for either party involved to take that step. It’s important to note that, if he does go, that will not begin to solve the most profound problems at the club — even though, all things considered, it would be a start.

To some extent, the problem is not of Mourinho’s making. The hope was that, at Old Trafford,…

Tottenham took control of the second half at Manchester United, burying three goals in the Theatre of Dreams to up the pressure on Jose Mourinho.

In the aftermath of Manchester United’s loss to Tottenham, Craig Burley says it’s time for Jose Mourinho, Ed Woodward or both to leave Old Trafford.

Jose Mourinho reacts to Manchester United’s 3-0 loss at home against Tottenham, and heaps praise on the fans at Old Trafford.

Where do Manchester United go from here? There were good signs, but they were sadly far outweighed by the bad.

In some ways, this 3-0 defeat at home to Tottenham Hotspur — their second in two games in the Premier League — was more dispiriting than their defeat to Brighton. Against Brighton, they showed a lack of intensity throughout; here, spurred on by six changes to their starting eleven, they nevertheless succumbed to a counter-attacking performance of the most ruthless efficiency. The start…
