Sydney beat Melbourne at the SCG to stay second in the league, three points behind leaders Perth Glory.

Perth glory take their lead to nine points on the ladder after beating the mariners.

Perth Glory moved six points clear at the top of the A-League with a comfortable 3-0 win at Central Coast.

Wellington Phoenix suffered a defeat to Adelaide but stay above thanks to goal difference.

The Jets sent the Wanderers crashing out of the finals race in the A-League.
While as unimpressed as everybody else with the shabby state of the SCG playing surface, Steve Corica believes it’s high time his Sydney FC squad were given credit for their resurgent form.
The Sky Blues host cashed-up Shanghai SIPG on Wednesday night at Jubilee Stadium in a pivotal AFC Champions League game before swiftly turning their attention back to winning the A-League.
But Corica is annoyed that much of the focus is instead on the club’s decision to move their April 18 top-of-the-table A-League…

Melbourne City blow two goal lead late, settle for draw versus Glory

Wellington Phoenix ended a four-game winless run by thumping Central Coast 8-2 in Gosford, in a game that equalled the most number of goals scored in an A-League match.

Koutroumbis and Petratos score as Jets beat Melbourne Victory on the road.

Western Sydney Wanderers cruised to a 4-1 win at Brisbane Roar, with Oriol Riera scoring twice.
Perth Glory coach Tony Popovic can’t help but feel envious watching Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC feature in the AFC Champions League, and he hopes it will be his turn soon.
Popovic has fond memories of the ACL after guiding the Western Sydney Wanderers to the title in 2014.
The Glory have never qualified for the competition, but are on track to achieve the feat this year given their six-point gap at the top of the A-League ladder.

Sanfrecce Hiroshima ruined Keisuke Honda’s Japanese homecoming, finding a late goal to dent Melbourne Victory’s AFC Champions League ambitions.
The J-League club won 2-1 on Tuesday night, scoring either side of Honda’s equaliser to secure a result against the run of play.
Teenage talent Shunki Higashi netted after just three minutes and Daiki Watari put a header past Lawrence Thomas with four minutes remaining, just as Victory thought they’d nabbed a share of the spoils.
Honda at least provided a…

The strong wind was the only winner as Sydney FC and South Korea’s Ulsan Hyundai slugged out a 0-0 draw in Wednesday’s Asian Champions League clash at Sydney’s Jubilee Oval.
Sydney created most of the chances in a game attended by just 4,039 spectators, but struggled to get shots on target, especially kicking into the strong breeze in the second half.
Visiting goalkeeper Oh Seong-Hoon saved strong efforts from Adam Le Fondre early in the game and from Anthony Caceres just after half-time, but had…

Melbourne Victory’s Asian Champions League campaign suffered a major setback as they were beaten 3-1 at home by Daegu FC in their opening game.
Ola Toivonen made a scoring return, but goals for Cesinha, Hwang Soon-Min and Edgar left Victory with much to do if they are to reach the next round.
Victory had no answer to the sublime skills of Daegu’s Brazilian forwards Cesinha and Edgar, with the result ending their 12-match unbeaten home run in the competition.
Kevin Muscat’s side, in a midseason slump,…

Koutroumbis and Petratos score as Jets beat Melbourne Victory on the road.
On the eve of an AFC Champions League campaign and with the race to the A-League finals in the home straight, Melbourne Victory coach Kevin Muscat has issues.
Any realistic chance the defending champions had of taking top spot from Perth evaporated into the steamy Geelong night air on Saturday when Newcastle inflicted a 2-0 loss.
It was the fourth match in succession that the Victory failed to claim maximum points and the fifth in a row where they fell behind on the score sheet.
