Borussia-Park’s pitch has seen better days.
Borussia Dortmund got more than they bargained for when they made the trip to take on Borussia Monchengladbach on Sunday — a pitch that was more suited to a cabbage patch or a farmer’s field than football.
The surface at Gladbach’s Borussia-Park home almost looked stitched together like some kind of home-made quilt.
Mario Gotze told Bild: “The first 20 minutes it was a bit like ice skating. That pitch was nearly as good as my backyard.”
Dortmund’s Twitter account put out a picture…

West Ham defender Reece Oxford will return to Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach on loan for the rest of the season.

He featured in their win over Shrewsbury and last weekend’s defeat at Wigan in the FA Cup and made a cameo off the bench in Tuesday’s…

West Ham United’s Reese Oxford was recalled from a loan to Borussia Monchengladbach in December.
Borussia Monchengladbach have not given up on keeping West Ham United defender Reece Oxford, who was recalled early from his loan stint with the Bundesliga side in December.
Despite only making three Bundesliga appearances, the Foals hoped to keep Oxford, 19, at the Borussia Park at least until the end of the season.
Although he joined Gladbach on a one-year loan in the summer, West Ham opted to recall the England youth international early amid reported interest from RB Leipzig.
Gladbach, however,…

Jacob Italiano has made a big impact for Perth Glory.
Borussia Monchengladbach have confirmed their interest in Perth Glory’s 16-year-old winger Jacob Italiano.

Jupp Heynckes says he told Arturo Vidal he needed to improve his physical shape if he wanted to keep his place at Bayern.
Forget Borussia Dortmund or upstarts RB Leipzig, the Bundesliga’s original Klassiker is Bayern Munich vs. Borussia Monchengladbach. The two heavyweights dominated Germany from the end of the 1960s until 1981, with Bayern winning the league six times and Gladbach five.
Here are five memorable meetings to whet the appetite before Saturday’s true Klassiker.
Bayern drunk with success
Back in May 1974, Bayern had just sealed their first hat trick of league titles, with Gladbach only a point behind in…

Borussia Monchengladbach fans displayed an insulting banner at Hoffenheim this weekend.
Borussia Monchengladbach are being investigated by the German football federation (DFB) after their supporters displayed a defamatory banner aimed at their hosts Hoffenheim during Saturday’s game.
Ahead of the 3-1 win at Hoffenheim, Gladbach fans presented a tifo highlighting the club’s rich history and founding year, 1900. Underneath, a banner accused Hoffenheim owner Dietmar Hopp of “murdering” football.
Gladbach fans also insulted Hopp’s mother in a chant, often sung by those fans claiming to…
