Cameroon midfielder Franck Kom is set to play a key role for Esperance when they meet Al-Ahly on Friday in the first leg of the CAF Champions League final.
The midfielder is gearing up for one of the biggest matches of his career, and may be quietly confident that his recent form could see him muscle his way into Clarence Seedorf’s Cameroon squad.
Kom hasn’t had things all his own way since bursting onto the scene with local side Panthére du Ndé, but has bounced back impressively since…

Clarence Seedorf has revealed that Georges Mandjeck will captain Cameroon when they meet Malawi in Tuesday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Blantyre.
The decision, while enforced by the injury absence of stand-in captain Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, will make Mandjeck the third captain of the Dutchman’s three-game tenure in charge of the AFCON hosts.
“I am just confirming what I said in the last conference that for every match we will see a change in captain” Seedorf told the Cameroon federation…

Cameroon will be without stand-in captain Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting when they face Malawi in Blantyre on Tuesday
Choupo-Moting scored the only goal in the 62nd minute at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo in Yaoundé as the Indomitable Lions defeated the Flames on coach Clarence Seedorf’s home debut on Friday.

Lionel Messi may have been overlooked for the three-man shortlist for FIFA’s The Best award ahead of Monday’s awards ceremony in London, but former teamate Samuel Eto’o believes the Barcelona superstar’s standing as the greatest player ever isn’t in doubt.
Messi was included in the FIFPro World XI, but it was Real Madrid’s Luka Modric who won the main prize to end the Messi-Cristiano Ronaldo duopoly of the award.
The Croatia midfielder won with 29 percent of the votes, coming in ahead of Ronaldo…

Benjamin Moukandjo’s decision to retire from Cameroon duty is a damaging – and wholly predictable – setback for Clarence Seedorf’s Indomitable Lions tenure.
The Beijing Renhe forward released a press statement on Saturday in which he confirmed that the new Dutch coach’s actions and comments had pushed him to retire.
“I found the recent comments by Mr. Clarence Seedorf very brash and unfair,” Moukandjo’s statement began, as per BBC Sport.
“[It was] unfair because, despite being the team captain,…
