Grimsby Town are open to talking to Sol Campbell about their vacant managerial position — and the former England defender wants to make it happen.
Campbell made headlines this week when he said he could not understand why he — “one of the greatest minds in football” — was getting overlooked for jobs.
He was speaking after failing to land the Oxford job, but Grimsby chairman John Fenty has said he is willing to speak to the 43-year-old as he searches for a replacement for Russell Slade.
“I’m surprised…

Kick It Out has said there is ‘still significant work to be done.’
Anti-discrimination group Kick It Out has said incidents of racism, anti-gay abuse and other discrimination have increased by 38 percent from last season in the top four divisions of English football.
The group said that although this could be partially due to incidents having been made easier to report, the increase should serve as “a wake-up call.”
It said there had been 111 incidents of discrimination since August, with 64 of those happening at Premier League games and 47 in the other three divisions.

Huish Park was the site of a bizarre drone stoppage on New Year’s Day.
Crawley Town benefitted from an extra break when a drone spotted above the pitch delayed their League Two game at Yeovil by about 10 minutes on Monday.
The match was level at 1-1 but the hosts were down to nine men when the officials stopped play in the 80th minute and the players came off after the security breach.
The drone eventually flew off, and after play resumed Crawley were able to find a late winner. Their manager Harry Kewell — the former Australia star — said the interruption gave him…

Harry Kewell has “apologised for any misunderstanding” regarding “exaggerated” reports of a furious confrontation with Crawley Town fans.
The Socceroos legend was embroiled in a post-match storm after Saturday’s 4-0 defeat to Wycombe Wanderers left his League Two side in 21st place and outside the bottom three only on goal difference.
