Florian Kohfeldt said the ‘spy’ had asked for autographs.
A Hamburg “spy” asked for autographs when he was spotted by Werder Bremen officials on Wednesday ahead of the two sides’ meeting on Saturday.
Defeat in the Nordderby at Bremen’s Weserstadion would push Hamburg closer to their first-ever relegation from the Bundesliga.
Bremen are six points and two places above Hamburg, who sent the “spy” to their rivals’ training earlier this week.
However, smiling Bremen coach Florian Kohfeldt on Thursday revealed that the man had been discovered.
“When we found…

Hamburg are fighting relegation from the Bundesliga this season.
Hamburg have appointed Bernd Hollerbach as their new coach on a deal until June 2019.
Hollerbach, who played almost 200 games for the club between 1996 and 2004, took training for the first time on Monday afternoon.

He then enjoyed success with Wurzburg Kickers, leading the club to 2. Bundesliga for the first time in 40 years. He left in 2017 following the club’s relegation.

Defeat to Cologne the night before was their fourth in succession and it left them just three points off the bottom.
Hamburg chairman Heribert Bruchhagen said…

Wood, 25, already failed to make Saturday’s match day squad against Wolfsburg with knee problems, and despite joining his teammates for a training session on Monday, he has now been ruled out of the tie against Eintracht Frankfurt.
As earlier reported by Hamburger Morgenpost, Wood will not make Tuesday’s match day squad because of a…

Jann-Fiete Arp has scored twice in five appearances for Hamburg this season.
Hamburg have been granted special dispensation from the authorities to play 17-year-old striker Jann-Fiete Arp in the Bundesliga on Friday.
Germany’s Youth Employment Protection Act directs that employees aged 17 and under are only allowed to work between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. Hamburg, in 15th place, kick off against Freiburg, one spot below them, at 8:30 p.m. on Friday.
Therefore, Hamburg had to ask for permission to play their teenager, who has scored twice in five appearances this season. Arp has…

Jann-Fiete Arp scored a goal in his first start for Hamburg on Nov. 4.
In the summer, Chelsea were keen to sign Jann-Fiete Arp for their academy. The 17-year-old Hamburg prodigy had other ideas, however, and rejected the offer, claiming that such a move was absolutely illogical.
“It won’t make any sense to leave my team and move abroad at the moment. I hardly achieved anything and have virtually no experience in professional football,” claimed Arp, who remained at the club he had joined seven years ago. “The risk would have been too big. Money shouldn’t matter…
