When the Confederation of African Football ratified an expansion to the Africa Cup of Nations in July 2017, introducing eight more teams to the biennial competition, the dynamic of the qualifying program was always going to change.
As had been the case ahead of the European Championship in 2016, for which UEFA had instigated an increase from 16 to 24 teams, many of the continent’s heavyweights cruised to the tournament with games to spare.
However, an overall decrease in drama among the bigger nations…

The road to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations has been paved with troubles, with the tournament often appearing to be at the mercy of the Confederation of African Football’s internal politics and, notably, the regime change from Issa Hayatou to Ahmad Ahmad in March 2017.
The change in CAF presidency prompted the AFCON changes instigated at the CAF symposium in July 2017, where it was decided that the tournament would be expanded from 16 to 24 teams, even though the 2019 qualifying campaign had already…

Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier has confirmed that Algerian club Club Sportif Constantinois are interested in signing Kenya international Francis Kahata.
The wideman was impressive both for club and country during the 2018 campaign as he led Gor Mahia to the CAF Confederation Cup group stage by scoring the all-important away goal against Supersport United.
He has also been a key player for Sebastien Migne’s Harambee Stars as the team edges closer to qualifying for 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

Gor Mahia have confirmed that they have parted ways with English coach Dylan Kerr, who led K’Ogalo to two consecutive Kenyan Premier League titles.

“I have today received a resignation letter from coach…

Gor Mahia CEO Lodvick Aduda is concerned about the absence of head coach Dylan Kerr, who has gone AWOL since the Kenyan champions’ exhibition match against Everton earlier this week.

The Equatoguineans were replaced by the Harambee Starlets on October 18 after Kenya protested the eligibility…

Everton’s fringe players ran out comfortable 4-0 winners over Kenyan giants Gor Mahia in the Sportpesa Cup final at Goodison Park on Tuesday.
Anglo-Nigerian wonderkid Ademola Lookman opened the scoring in the 15th minute, before Kieran Dowell – who scored in last year’s meeting between the two sides – added a second eight minutes later.
Lookman could have had a second early in the second half after a mazy run, but his effort was cleared off the line by Uganda defender Shafik Batambuze.

When Costal Union’s Bernard Mwalala picked up a hip injury in 2011 during a Tanzanian league game, he didn’t know that what looked like a minor problem would end his playing career.
Then 28, Mwalala had just picked up the injury that would prematurely force the striker into the unchartered waters of management.
“I thought it was just a normal injury which would heal within a short period, but it turned out to be the one that would end my career,” Mwalala told KweséESPN.
After numerous visits…
