MLS announced that Portland Timbers forward Brian Fernandez has voluntarily entered the league’s Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health (“SABH”) Program.
Fernandez will be unavailable for team activities until he has undergone an assessment and is cleared for participation by the SABH Program doctors.
“Our number one priority is Brian’s emotional and physical well-being,” the Timbers said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with him.”

LAFC defender Walker Zimmerman will miss the United States’ Nations League games against Cuba and Canada after getting sustaining a head injury.
Zimmerman left LAFC’s 3-1 win in its regular-season finale against the Colorado Rapids in the 66th minute on Sunday after colliding with Kei Kamara as the two leapt for a ball in the air.
He was replaced in the U.S. squad on Monday by Atlanta defender Miles Robinson, who was originally scheduled to spend this week with the U.S. Under-23 team.

Chicago Fire end their season with a rout of fellow playoff outsider Orlando City. Watch MLS on ESPN+.
Orlando City fired manager James O’Connor on Monday, a day after the Lions concluded their season with a 5-2 home defeat to the Chicago Fire, finishing in 11th place in the 12-team Eastern Conference.
Orlando, which has never made the playoffs in its five seasons of MLS existence, will now search for their fourth head coach in their brief MLS history.
