Rui Faria, who spent 17 years as Mourinho’s assistant at Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Manchester United among other clubs, has signed a contract with Al Duhail.
The Qatari club announced the arrival of Faria on Friday, saying “one of the special names in the world of coaching” had turned down “great European offers.”

DUBAI — FIFA president Gianni Infantino has revealed soccer’s global governing body is exploring the possibility of some of Qatar’s Gulf neighbours hosting matches at the 2022 World Cup.
Speaking at a sports conference in Dubai, Infantino also confirmed FIFA was looking into a possible expansion of the tournament to 48 teams, but said diplomatic tension in the area could be a problem countries would have to overcome.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Qatar says a Nepali worker has died while helping to build a stadium for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in the Arab nation.
Qatar’s Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy said in a statement Tuesday the 23-year-old worker died at its Al Wakrah Stadium project site.
It offered no cause of death, though the committee said both Qatari and Nepali authorities were notified. An investigation into the death is underway.
