Tottenham Hotspur Ladies player Renee Hector has said she was racially abused by a Sheffield United opponent during a game on Sunday.
Hector wrote on Twitter that the opposition player had directed monkey noises at her during an FA Women’s Championship match.
“Such a shame that racism seems to be rising up again in football,” the 23-year-old wrote. “I received some monkey noises from an opposition player. The only reaction was to let football do the talking.”
