Joris Gnagnon has signed for Sevilla on a five-year deal from Stade Rennais, the Spanish heavyweights have confirmed.
In a statement on the club website, Los Rojiblancos have revealed they they’ve recruited the 21-year-old from Ligue 1, with the Franco-Ivorian defender penning a deal that will keep him at the club until 2023.
The centre-back featured 36 times in the French top flight for Rennes last season, netting against both AS Monaco and Olympique de Marseille.
Despite his slender years, Gnagnon…

Rony Lopes saved Monaco against Rennes on Wednesday.
Monaco moved five points clear of Marseille in the race for second place in Ligue 1 after taking a point from a 1-1 draw with Rennes.
Looking to bounce back from their Coupe de la Ligue final defeat by Paris Saint-Germain last Saturday, Monaco could count themselves somewhat fortunate not to suffer a second successive loss.
Rennes, pushing for European football themselves and on a good run, had 20 attempts on goal compared to eight for the visitors but Joris Gnagnon’s 20th-minute strike was all…

This Star Wars-inspired tifo wasn’t enough to keep Rennes from being crushed 4-1 by PSG.

With Star Wars very much the theme du jour in football at the moment, French side Stade Rennais staged an outstanding intergalactic tifo before their big match against Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday.

As well as a giant Darth Vader banner, the impressively detailed effort even saw the ominous tones of “The Imperial March” being piped into the stadium via the speaker system before kickoff.

May the force be with you!Rennes fans produced an incredible Star Wars tifo ahead of their #Ligue1 clash against #PSG on Saturday. =O pic.twitter.com/x2r21INNJP— Michael Conti (@ImperioMundial) December 17, 2017

Sadly, things didn’t really go to plan for Rennes from that point onward, as Sabri Lamouchi’s team eventually…
