Sergio Aguero scored Manchester City’s second goal and orchestrated the first in a routine win over Brighton & Hove Albion.

There were few headlines as Manchester City notched another win under their belt for the beginning of the season to keep themselves in competition with the top of the Premier League. It was a tough afternoon as Brighton defended well, but Pep Guardiola’s side kept plugging away and eased themselves to a 2-0 win with very little fuss in the end.

Positives

Just when the fans’ frustrations at Mat Ryan’s time wasting and Brighton’s determination to leave no gaps threatened to boil over, City were…

Riyad Mahrez scored his third goal in four days for Manchester City as the Citizens cruise to a 3-0 win over Oxford United.

Manchester City cruised through to the next round of the Carabao Cup with a comfortable 3-0 win at Oxford. What could have been a tricky evening was well negotiated with professionalism and Pep Guardiola begins his defence of the trophy with a night where very little went wrong.

Positives

The shining light of the match were two of City’s youngsters. Brahim Diaz impressed before he was forced off injured but the night belonged to Stockport-born City fan Phil Foden. The 18-year old grabbed his…

ESPN FC’s Craig Burley and Shaka Hislop assess where Manchester City’s UCL opener went wrong following their 2-1 defeat against Lyon.

If the result of Manchester City’s 2-1 Champions League group-stage defeat to Lyon at home is a shock, then the performance of the hosts was even more surprising. The boos at full-time told the story: City didn’t show up for 60 minutes and Lyon were able to keep the home side at arm’s length for the duration. With Pep Guardiola watching from the stands, Mikel Arteta’s test as his stead in didn’t get off the ground.

Positives

There’s very little positive to take from the game, beyond there being…

After being named ESPN’s Greatest Sporting City for 2018, find out what makes Manchester a great place for sport.
Manchester City fans are facing major disruption after it was announced their match at Tottenham had been rescheduled for Oct 29 at Wembley, with White Hart Lane unlikely to be finished in time. The North London side should be facing a punishment for the mess and a big fine or a points deduction would be fitting.
Frankly, they shouldn’t be far off forfeiting the match entirely.
Delays in building the new White Hart Lane are not City’s problem, and yet it’s their team and their fans that are…

It wasn’t all plain sailing for Man City as they were left to rely on a rasping drive from Kyle Walker to secure victory over Newcastle.

It wasn’t all plain sailing for Man City as they were left to rely on a rasping drive from Kyle Walker for the victory over Newcastle.
You could be forgiven for thinking Manchester City made hard work of their 2-1 victory vs. Newcastle, but while there is no doubt Pep Guardiola’s team deserved the three points, boy did the visitors make it tough. Nevertheless, a win is a win and means City have not lost more ground on the early Premier League leaders.
Positives
It could have been one of those games where fans came away cursing missed chances, but City dug deep and ground out the points. At times it wasn’t pretty, but it was effective…

Manchester City struck the woodwork three times and conceded a handball goal as Wolves held out for a point.

Manchester City struck the woodwork three times and conceded a handball goal as Wolves held out for a point.

Manchester City controlled the ball without really being in control of the game. They fell behind to a goal that shouldn’t have stood and had enough chances to have gone in front, hitting both the post and crossbar early on. The visitors were dangerous, but sloppy, while Wolves were organised, yet open — which City couldn’t exploit. Both sides will feel like they should have won it, both could have lost it and a point was probably the fair result. There were more foul throws than goals.

Positives

City…

News that Kevin De Bruyne will be out for some time is not particularly welcome for Manchester City fans.
One of the key men in Pep Guardiola’s centurions last season — no mean feat given the talent in the squad — he’ll be a huge hole for the manager to fill in making his team tick in his defence of the title.
His influence in the 2-0 win over Arsenal last Sunday was there for all to see. City were in control for most of it, but the hosts grew into the game after half-time. Guardiola brought…

Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva provided the goals to help Manchester City begin their title defense with a 2-0 win over Arsenal.

You could be forgiven for thinking the Premier League had never been away. Manchester City picked up where they left off at the end of their record-breaking season and, despite having tired legs and personnel that had missed most of preseason, took a comfortable victory at Arsenal. The shape of the team was different, but the outcome was the same — and the signs are this could be another exciting campaign.

Positives
City looked rusty. But despite that, they were able to keep Arsenal at arm’s…

A disappointed Joachim Low outlines how Germany’s error-ridden display against Austria affects their World Cup preparations.
Leroy Sane is not going to the World Cup. Again: Leroy Sane is NOT going to the World Cup. Quite how the Premier League’s most influential young player of the 2017-18 season hasn’t been included in his nation’s squad for the World Cup is a mystery to Manchester City fans. It should be a mystery to everyone! It’s a baffling decision and looks complete nonsense from those who have watched one of the most exciting performers of the last 12-months on a regular basis.
Since working with Pep Guardiola,…

ESPN’s Manchester City correspondent Jonathan Smith shares his view on a season where Manchester City finished champions 19 points ahead of Manchester United.

Man City’s Vincent Kompany tells Alexis Nunes how their record-breaking season came together, what it’s like working under Pep Guardiola and more.

It would be foolish for Yaya Toure to move to Manchester United. Having spent years building a legacy at their cross-town rivals, Manchester City, culminating in an emotional on-the-pitch send-off after the 3-1 win over Brighton earlier in May, the midfielder should note that there are few players that manage to cross the divide and remain loved by the team they’re leaving.

Though it would be mildly amusing for City fans to see that it was now United looking for the one-season wonders and top-level…
