Antoine Griezmann was the star man against Club Brugge, scoring two goals as Atletico won 3-1.
Atletico Madrid took a huge step towards the knockout stages of the Champions League with a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Brugge on Wednesday.

Antoine Griezmann was the hero with a double, before Koke’s late strike put the icing on the cake. Hats off to Brugge’s Arnaut Groenveld, who scored a stunning effort to level things up at 1-1 in the first half.

Craig Burley feels Antoine Griezmann’s comments are a bit arrogant when he said he’s at the same level as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Sergio Ramos makes fun of Antoine Griezmann’s claims that he ‘eats at the same table as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.’
Last week Antoine Griezmann caused quite a stir when, in an interview, he claimed he was now “sitting at the same table as the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.”

Frankly, it could not have been worse timed, with Atletico in something of a rut, having just scraped a last minute 1-1 draw at home to Eibar after a chastening away to Celta Vigo before the international break. Griezmann had just one La Liga goal to his name and was not exactly setting the world on fire, either. Not to mention…

Antoine Griezmann’s second-half goal was enough as Atletico hung on to beat Rayo Vallecano.

New season, same old Atletico Madrid as they ground out a turgid 1-0 victory over local rivals Rayo Vallecano thanks to Antoine Griezmann’s effort.

It looked as if it was going to be one of those frustrating nights for Los Rojiblancos, who huffed and puffed without much success until Griezmann turned in Stefan Savic’s header from close range. Once again they were indebted to Jan Oblak, who pulled off a stunning save to ensure the European Super Cup winners of a first victory of the season.

Atletico Madrid’s season got off to an entertaining start as they battled out an entertaining 1-1 draw at Valencia on Monday.
Los Rojiblancos started strongly and deservedly took the lead through Angel Correa in the first half, however after the break their 120 minutes of exertions in Tallinn in midweek in the Super Cup took a toll as they dropped deeper and deeper, with Rodrigo eventually equalising for Los Che.
The match swung back and forth in the final 10, with both teams having ample chances…

Craig Burley explains how the absences of Zinedine Zidane and Cristiano Ronaldo seemed to embolden Atletico Madrid in their UEFA Super Cup triumph.
Atletico Madrid finally got the monkey off their back as they defeated local rivals Real Madrid 4-2 in the European Super Cup in Tallinn on Wednesday night to start the season with a trophy and perhaps give a glimpse of a changing of the guard in the Spanish capital.

Diego Costa’s double, coupled with Saul Niguez’s stunner and Koke’s composed fourth gave Los Rojiblancos a deserved victory.

While it might not make up for the heartache suffered in Lisbon and Milan in years gone by, it could…

Diego Simeone reiterates Atletico’s statement of intent by keeping hold of players like Antoine Griezmann and the chance for youngsters to shine at the ICC.

Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey insists the team is fully behind their ‘best player’ Antoine Griezmann ahead of the new La Liga season.
When the news broke early on Thursday that Manchester United had made a bid to try to persuade Diego Godin to join them this summer, it was hardly a surprise.

The Uruguayan is, after all, arguably the best centre-back in the world — as his displays at the World Cup earlier this summer attested to — and with a reported release clause of just €20 million, it was an opportunistic approach that if successful would have been one of the coups of the window.

But let’s face it, it was never…

Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey insists the team is fully behind their ‘best player’ Antoine Griezmann ahead of the new La Liga season.

Atletico Madrid head coach Diego Simeone says, given the choice, he would pick Lionel Messi over Cristiano Ronaldo.
Diego Simeone would never allow you to believe it, but there is excitement building at Atletico Madrid this summer. Whisper it quietly, but “El Pupas” – the cursed one — as they have been known over the years could be about to shed that tag and become “the fancied one” this season.
A genuine summer of success has built on the return of Diego Costa in January. Combine it with a transfer window of flux at rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid and there is a genuine argument to be had that Atleti…

Antoine Griezmann has finally announced his decision to stay at Atletico Madrid, and the FC panel can’t quite believe how he went about it.
If we had all just listened to Diego Godin, this whole charade would have been over before it began.
As Antoine Griezmann’s every touch was booed on the last day of the season following media reports concerning a move to Barcelona, his Atletico Madrid teammate went over to the fans and told them to stop, and that the forward was staying.
Instead, it went largely unnoticed and the whole saga played out. Almost two years of “Will he? Won’t he?” was excruciatingly resolved in one rather self-indulgent…

Another day that shook Spanish football has allowed Atletico Madrid to quietly make one of their most important moves of the summer.
