Blerim Dzemaili completed his return to Serie A side Bologna on Friday after a year on loan in MLS with the Montreal Impact.
Both clubs are owned by Canadian businessman Joey Saputo. Impact coach Remi Garde said last week that Dzemaili had requested the move.
Dzemaili said on Thursday that he was happy to be back in Italy.

Swiss international Blerim Dzemaili put the Impact on his back in Philly, netting a brace en route to their 3-0 win. The Montreal Impact will renew designated player Blerim Dzemaili’s loan for the 2018 season, the MLS club announced on Thursday.
Dzemaili, 31, is on loan from Serie A club Bologna, which is also owned by Impact president Joey Saputo.
After joining Montreal in May, he went on to scored seven goals with 10 assists in 22 starts, and will now return for a second season.

Blerim Dzemaili will be allowed to join Montreal two months early.
Blerim Dzemaili will leave Bologna to join up with the Montreal Impact this week, the Italian side’s director says.
Dzemaili, 31, agreed a designated player contract with Montreal in December. By getting his release from Bologna early, the central midfielder will be able to join the Impact before the MLS primary transfer window closes on May 8.
