Gab Marcotti reacts to the Serie A disciplinary tribunal’s decision not to take action over racist chants aimed at Inter’s Romelu Lukaku.
Italian Premier Giuseppe Conte has applauded a lifetime ban for a supporter who racially abused Roma defender Juan Jesus on social media.
The Brazilian — who is black — posted a screenshot of the messages on Instagram.
Roma says it has reported the account to Italian police and Instagram and that “the person responsible will be banned from #ASRoma games for life.”
Conte backed Roma’s stance on Friday, writing on Twitter that “The person who insulted Juan Jesus yesterday has no passion for sport,…

Despite several gilt-edged chances, Roma and Atletico ended scoreless at the Stadio Olimpico.

Roma had goalkeeper Alisson to thank that they began their Champions League campaign with a creditable point against Atletico Madrid rather than a heavy defeat, as the Brazilian pulled off a string of fantastic saves to deny Diego Simeone’s team what would probably have been a deserved win.

Alisson, who had been criticised in the early weeks of the season, drew wild applause from the Stadio Olimpico after a Custer-esque display. He denied Vietto with a superb one-on-one stop just before the…

Forty-five minutes into Thursday night’s match Roma looked good for the quarterfinals after coming back from an early Mouctar Diakhaby goal to lead 2-1 through goals from Mohamed Salah and Federico…

Radja Nainggolan’s first-half goal was all Roma needed to beat Udinese and pull closer to Juventus at the top of table.

Roma closed the gap between them and Serie A leaders Juventus to just one point after their gritty 1-0 win at Udinese was followed up by a dramatic 2-1 win for Fiorentina over the Old Lady, but regardless of the result of that intense encounter the Giallorossi can be happy with their side’s new-found ability to grind out results when not at their best.
The narrow victory at the Stadio Friuli was the second such win for Roma in as many weeks, and apart from one scrabbled first-half double save…
