Medhi Benatia scores the winning goal for Juventus in the first half.
Roma’s title hopes took another blow with a defeat at the Allianz Stadium, where they are yet to pick up a single point and on Saturday lost their third straight match a Scudetto rival.
For three quarters of the match, Juve had Roma in their pocket and Roma needed goalkeeper Alisson on the top of his game. The Brazilian did his best to do what his defence couldn’t and stop Medhi Benatia with two fine double saves before the Morocco international smashed home the winner. But once Patrik Schick and…

Rome’s special bond with locally-born players means Alessandro Florenzi’s return will help both on the field and in the stands.

When Eusebio Di Francesco revealed on Friday that Alessandro Florenzi will start against Hellas Verona it signalled the end of an 11-month injury nightmare for the Roma all-rounder, and alongside a probable debut start for fellow returning Roman Lorenzo Pellegrini, will give the Giallorossi a bit of local flavour that Roma fans have always liked to have in their side.
Florenzi’s almost year-long layoff means that his return to the team makes him one of football’s oldest cliches — the…

Mohamed Salah says he wants to win trophies after completing his move from Roma to Liverpool.
While all eyes have been on Roma’s record-breaking sale of Mohamed Salah to Liverpool and the quite bonkers story of Kostas Manolas pushing Antonio Rudiger to Chelsea by refusing to sign for Zenit Saint Petersburg, apparently because he didn’t want to be paid in rubles, sporting director Monchi has quietly brought in two of Europe’s most promising young talents and boosted two areas that were in serious need of reinforcement.
