Mark Hughes praises Stoke City’s courage and character en route to victory after going behind against Swansea inside three minutes.

Mark Hughes credits Peter Crouch’s impact for Stoke against Leicester after dealing with a back issue in recent weeks.
Peter Crouch hopes he has proved he can be a regular starter for Stoke at the age of 36.
The striker has been a super-sub for the Potters this season and the club showed how highly they value him by tying him to a new one-year contract last week.
At that stage he was yet to start a Premier League game all campaign, but boss Mark Hughes named him in the team for last week’s defeat by Liverpool and he kept his place for the weekend’s victory over Swansea.
“I always felt I could still start games and…

Stoke boss Mark Hughes is preparing a new contract for Peter Crouch and is sure the 37-year-old is nowhere near retirement.
The former England striker is the Potters’ top scorer this season with four goals, despite being used almost exclusively from the bench.
His cameo at Brighton on Monday saw him set a new Premier League record for substitute appearances (143) but there is no sign of him winding down his top-flight career.
Instead, he has spoken of playing on until 40 and Hughes is happy to help…

Brighton twice came from behind against Stoke ensuring the points were shared at the Amex.
Peter Crouch made a record 143rd Premier League appearance as a substitute when he came on for Stoke against Brighton on Monday night.
Crouch’s 73rd-minute introduction took him past ex-Newcastle striker Shola Ameobi’s tally, set between 2000 and 2015.
And Crouch has been effective in the role, averaging a goal every 162 minutes compared to every 271 minutes as a starter.
The former England striker, now 36, has shifted towards an impact substitute role in recent years — eight of his 18 league goals…

ROTTACH-EGERN, Germany — Ragnar Klavan says Peter Crouch was one of most difficult strikers he faced in his first season in the Premier League.
Klavan joined Liverpool last summer from Augsburg for £4.2 million and made 25 appearances last term as backup at centre-back.
The 31-year-old faced Sergio Aguero, Romelu Lukaku, Harry Kane and Zlatan Ibrahimovic throughout 2016-17, but feels the Stoke City striker, who played for Liverpool between 2005 and 2008, gave him the most challenging encounter.

Crouch has been best buddies with journalist and Radio X evening show host Gordon Smart for some time, and so when the presenter…

Indeed, the 6-foot-7 Stoke City striker enjoyed a day trip to the zoo, where he took the time to drop in on a couple of equally gangly “relatives.”
Yep. We can certainly see the resemblance!
