Southampton defender Ryan Bertrand has withdrawn from the England squad following a back issue.
The 28-year-old, who helped Southampton to a 2-0 FA Cup quarterfinal victory against Wigan on Sunday, returned to his club for further assessment on his back, after training on his own inside away from the main session earlier in the day.
The FA called Bertrand’s exit “a precautionary measure” but confirmed he will not play in upcoming friendlies against Netherlands and Italy.

The FC crew evaluate where both Juventus and Real Madrid stand entering the UEFA Champions League final.
