Andre Villas-Boas has managed Porto, Chelsea and Tottenham in Europe.
Shanghai SIPG have confirmed Andre Villas-Boas has left the club, announcing the Portuguese coach’s departure on their social media outlet on Thursday evening.
Villas-Boas, who joined the club last winter on a one-year contract reported to be worth €15 million, has stepped down having failed to deliver on his preseason promise to win a trophy for the big-spending club.
“The 2017 season is over and while Shanghai SIPG have made some improvements there are also some regrets,” the club said in…

Wu Lei has been nominated for the Asian Football Confederation’s Player of the Year award.
China international Wu Lei says he has turned down the opportunity to further his career in Europe as he bids to win titles with Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIPG.
SIPG endured a frustrating campaign this season, finishing as runners-up in both the Chinese Super League and the Chinese FA Cup while also reaching the semifinals of the AFC Champions League.
That, though, has not stopped Wu from being recognised as one of the continent’s leading players, with the 26-year-old nominated for the…

Billions of renminbi have been spent collectively by Shanghai SIPG, Hebei CFFC, Tianjin Quanjian and others in an attempt to prize the domestic title out of the hands of the southern Chinese giants….

Andre Villas-Boas saw his side eliminated in the semifinals.
Andre Villas-Boas said Shanghai SIPG’s run to the semifinals of the AFC Champions League was a “step forward” despite their defeat by Japanese club Urawa Red Diamonds.
A goal from Rafael Silva was enough to earn Urawa a 2-1 aggregate win and a place in the final against Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal.
SIPG have improved since the arrival of Villas-Boas and are in second place in the Chinese Super League as well as in the final of the Chinese FA Cup.
“This achievement in the ACL was a step forward for SIPG,”…
