Four first-half goals in 13 minutes highlighted a gripping contest and although the Sky Blues were forced to settle for a point — their first from the opening two matches — the display was full of positives for coach Graham Arnold.

The Carlos Tevez saga has come to its predictable conclusion, ending a year in which the Argentinian proved little has changed with himself or, indeed, Shanghai Shenhua.
Tevez’s criticism of the Chinese Super League (CSL), poor form and eventual return to Boca Juniors came as little surprise given the striker’s track record, while for Shenhua the past 12 months carried echoes of the hapless signings of Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba more than half a decade ago.
The landscape of Chinese football…

Carlos Tevez’s future is the subject of speculation.
Carlos Tevez’s agent Adrian Ruocco says his client will honour his contract with Shanghai Shenhua amid reports he could return for a third stint at Boca Juniors.
Boca president Daniel Angelici had been hopeful of bringing Tevez back to the Bombonera one year after he left the club to sign a lucrative two-year contract with the Chinese Super League side.
Tevez can exercise a release clause this month but Ruocco says this will not happen.
He told Closs Continental radio: “Carlos’ wish is to complete…

Sydney FC could be set to go head-to-head with Carlos Tevez as the A-League champions were drawn to face Shanghai Shenhua in the group phase of the AFC Champions League on Wednesday.
Graham Arnold’s team will take on Chinese FA Cup winners Shenhua, who have yet to confirm whether Tevez will remain with the club after a difficult first season in China, as well as former Japanese champions Kashima Antlers and the winner of a playoff.
South Korea’s Suwon Samsung Bluewings, a two-time winner of the…

The Argentine striker flew back to Buenos Aires last week after a disappointing season in China and according to Angelici, the 33-year-old’s agent Adrian Ruocco is negotiating with Shenhua to…
