Weston McKennie was relentless vs. Cuba scoring three times in the first 13 minutes in a 7-0 win.
The United States made short work of Cuba thanks in part to a first-half hat trick from Weston McKennie as the Americans began their inaugural CONCACAF Nations League campaign with a 7-0 win on Friday night in Washington D.C.
Josh Sargent got his second competitive senior national team start and Christian Pulisic wore the captain’s armband as the U.S. raced out to a record-setting start in the first half.

Weston McKennie played a pivotal role in the United States reaching the Gold Cup final.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — For the better part of a month, Weston McKennie has been riding the ups and downs of getting familiar with a new position, new teammates, a (mostly) new manager and a new system. There have been uneven performances, like in the Gold Cup quarterfinal against Curacao when, despite scoring the game’s only goal, McKennie was loose with too many passes and looked out of sync defensively with midfield partner Michael Bradley.
But Wednesday’s 3-1 semifinal triumph over Jamaica saw McKennie…

Taylor Twellman says the U.S.’s official reboot has begun under Gregg Berhalter, but expects to learn much more from their game versus Chile.
United States and Schalke midfielder Weston McKennie is expected to miss the remainder of the Bundesliga season with an ankle injury suffered in the U.S.’s 1-0 friendly victory over Ecuador on Thursday, a source has told ESPN FC.
McKennie, 20, left that game in the 68th minute and was later ruled out of this week’s friendly against Chile with what Schalke on Monday called a “ruptured” ankle ligament.

U.S. Soccer’s description of the injury on Monday was not as ominous, however, stating…

Taylor Twellman says the U.S.’s official reboot has begun under Gregg Berhalter, but expects to learn much more from their game versus Chile.
HOUSTON — United States manager Gregg Berhalter said midfielder Weston McKennie is out for Tuesday’s friendly with Chile due to a left ankle injury he picked up on Thursday against Ecuador, but Berhalter added that the player didn’t sustain any broken bones.
McKennie was injured midway through the second half when he fell awkwardly after attempting a headed clearance. He left the field with the help of trainers but eventually required a stretcher to carry him back to the U.S. bench.

The United States’ current crop of young players is building a strong bond in Germany, while also featuring prominently for the Bundesliga’s top clubs. Christian Pulisic, Weston McKennie and Tyler Adams, a trio of 20-year-olds who have become regulars in the Bundesliga, are starting together for the first time as the United States play Ecuador in a friendly (live at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN2).
In his first game with the full player pool to pick from, new U.S. coach Gregg Berhalter started Sean Johnson in goal on Thursday night. Adams was at right-back, John Brooks and Aaron Long in central defense and Tim Ream at left-back — his first appearance since…

The U.S. has a lot of depth and a lot of question marks in 2019. Who would make up the first team in a World Cup right now?

It’s a big time for the U.S. men’s national team right now. Qualification has yet to start for the 2022 World Cup but the March international break sees competitive friendlies, with all the Europe-based U.S. stars, against Ecuador (Thursday, 8 p.m. ET, ESPN2) and Chile (March 26, 7:55 p.m. ET, ESPN2).

They also have the Gold Cup this summer, but what if action in Qatar kicked off today? How would Gregg Berhalter set up his team in that first group game?

Don’t worry, Gregg: we’ve got your back….

Swapping the Red Bulls of New York for the RB of Leipzig, the MLS club’s big brother in the Bundesliga, hasn’t been an entirely smooth process for Tyler Adams.
“There’s been a bit of a culture twist,” says the 20-year-old, explaining that Germany’s rather regimented approach to life has taken some getting used to.
“One thing I realized here: They’re very particular about the rules,” he says with a wide smile. “There are a lot of rules here. Whether it’s driving-wise or just everything in general,…
