Augustine Kabaso Mulenga’s availability for the African Nations Championship was a major talking point in Zambia ahead of the African Nations Championship, but now that he’s here, the midfielder appears primed to make up for lost time.
The lanky star had just scooped the Zambia Premier League Player of the Year accolade after an enthralling campaign and had also cemented his place as a regular in the Zambia set up.
Inevitably, interest in his services was swelling from among a host of foreign clubs.
Yet,…

Several fresh Zambian faces caught the eye in the Chipolopolo’s African Nations Championship opener on Sunday, with Lazarous Kambole notably marking his debut with a Man of the Match display.
As well as winning the CAF award, the ZESCO United forward also opened the scoring for Wedson Nyirenda’s side, and delivered a bright showing before tiring somewhat during the second period.
The more established Fackson Kapumbu is already a prominent figure within the national side, and was named in the shortlist…

Uganda goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan endured an evening to forget as the Cranes were defeated 3-1 by Zambia in their African Nations Championship opener.
The East Africans were already trailing 2-1 when, in the 72nd minute, Ochan mishandled Fackson Kapumbu’s ambitious free kick from range and, stepping back, allowed the ball to bounce over the line.
It was the standout moment in a miserable evening for Uganda, who largely enjoyed the better of the first half, and were twice unfortunate to concede.

Striker Muhammad Shaban scored a brace as East African guests Uganda stunned holders and hosts Zambia 2-0 in their Group A opener at the 2017 Mopani Copper Mines COSAFA Under-20 Championships in Kitwe on Wednesday.
Uganda were deserved winners over the African champions, who have a new-look side this year as they build towards the defence of their title in the 2019 African Youth Championships.

Wedson Nyirenda is eager to add Belgium-born Chelsea starlet Charly Musonda to his Zambia squad as he looks to build a formidable unit ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Nyirenda has overseen an impressive transformation for the national side since taking charge back in September, and has discarded some of the squad’s elder statesmen in favour of the country’s next generation of stars.
The bold move has sparked a startling revival in fortunes for Chipolopolo, who finished a credible second…

Zambia, who lost the game 1-0 to bow out of the qualifying race for the Russia World Cup, appealed to FIFA to review the performance of Botswanan referee Joshua Bondo in the game which took place in Uyo.
Zambia succumbed to Alex Iwobi’s strike late on, but they were unhappy that Bondo ruled their 23rd-minute effort…
