It’s been quite a week for World Cup winners throwing out first pitches in Major League Baseball. Bastian Schweinsteiger did the honours for the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday night.
On Wednesday, David Villa, who just signed a new contract to remain with New York City FC in MLS next season, took the hill ahead of the New York Yankees’ game against the Toronto Blue Jays to throw out the ceremonial ball.

New York City FC striker David Villa has signed a one-year contract extension, the Major League Soccer (MLS) franchise has announced.
Villa, 35, was the first signing made by the club after it was founded in 2014, and he has now committed to coach Patrick Vieira’s side until the end of the 2018 MLS season.
