Luis Enrique addresses what Spain must improve on in order to keep pace with the elite in world football.

ESPN FC’s Gab Marcotti assesses Spain’s decision to appoint Luis Enrique and the challenges he may face as an international manager.
Former World Cup winner and European champion David Villa says that new Spain manager Luis Enrique will be expected to win at Euro 2020 and beyond.
Luis Enrique was appointed two weeks ago, after La Roja fell to their second consecutive early exit from a World Cup, being defeated by the hosts at the round-of-16 stage of Russia 2018. He last managed for Barcelona, the club he walked away from in May 2017 and subsequently took a year-long sabbatical.
And now New York City FC forward Villa says that…

David Beckham

Patient Zero for the Designated Player era didn’t exactly burn up the league in the early years of his LA Galaxy stint beyond the occasional stylish photo shoot. The slow start did eventually give way when Beckham fully committed himself after two…

They might be the last people New York City FC would look to for empathy, but New York Red Bulls know the feeling.

A game plan and a series that hinges on contingencies you can’t plan for; a self-inflicted and avoidable disciplinary wound; a goal-of-a-lifetime against you; a goalkeeping error.

Red Bulls fans will read the above and instantly flash to multiple moments over the years that seemed to undo a season in a second; for that matter, they may well probably end up adding the circumstances…
