Alexis Nunes and Paul Mariner predict La Liga’s notable fixtures from this weekend, but will Real Madrid get back on track under Zinedine Zidane?
Zinedine Zidane’s second spell as Real Madrid coach began with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Celta Vigo in La Liga, as the recently sidelined Isco and Gareth Bale got themselves on the scoresheet.
Positives
The fact that Isco, who had been ostracised under Santi Solari, scored the opener was a perfect sign that Zidane is ready to fix all that has gone wrong this season. Bale’s performance and goal showed there seems to be no hard feelings over the falling out with the French coach last season either.
Negatives

Everybody is expecting a summer of change at Real Madrid following last week’s elimination from the Champions League and the prospect of a season without a trophy. Club president Florentino Perez and chief executive Jose Angel Sanchez have some huge calls to make, and if history is anything to go by, they’ll be making most of them on their own, albeit with input from Zinedine Zidane, who returned to the club on Monday.
With that in mind, here’s some unsolicited advice from me and Graham Hunter:…

Alexis Nunes and Paul Mariner sift through the more notable fixtures in La Liga this weekend, including Atletico Madrid’s clash with Real Madrid.

Spanish correspondent Sid Lowe says that despite his poor cameo in the Clasico and the rise of Vinicius Junior, Gareth Bale might still have an integral part to play at Madrid this season.

Paul Mariner shares some insight on Mauricio Pochettino’s chances of ending up at Real Madrid, and if it would be a good fit for the Argentine.
Real Madrid playmaker Isco says he is not “enjoying the same opportunities as his teammates” in an apparent criticism of coach Santi Solari on social media.
Isco was a regular for previous boss Julen Lopetegui but has barely featured since Solari took charge last October, starting just three games in four months. Even youngsters Vinicius Jr., 18, and Fede Valverde, 20, are getting much more playing time than the 26-year-old Spain international.

Real Madrid coach Santiago Solari has rejected Isco’s claim that he is not getting the same opportunities as his teammates.
After indicating on Thursday that he felt he was being unfairly treated, Isco featured in Friday’s training session but suffered a back complaint and is unlikely to feature at Atletico Madrid on Saturday.
Asked at his prematch news conference about Isco’s claims, Solari said: “The job of a professional footballer is to train at 100 percent to be ready for the team.

Spain coach Luis Enrique has said Real Madrid’s Isco needs more playing time with his club if he is to maintain his place in the national team.
Isco, a regular for his country since Luis Enrique took over in July, has started only three times in 21 club games since Santiago Solari replaced Julen Lopetegui at the Bernabeu in October.
Luis Enrique, who watched Madrid’s 4-2 win at Espanyol on Sunday, in which Isco was left on the bench, told Movistar Plus: “As it is right now, I don’t know if I would…

Real Madrid made very heavy work of qualifying for the Copa del Rey quarterfinals, winning 3-1 on aggregate over Leganes. Despite Leganes dominating Wednesday’s last-16 second leg at Butarque, Los Pepineros were only able to manage one goal.
Positives
Just 12 months after going out of the Copa to their suburban neighbours in the quarterfinals, Los Blancos did enough to progress to the last eight on a night when Atletico Madrid crashed out. No new fitness problems was also a plus — considering…
