Twenty-three football fans were arrested in Seville on Friday following disturbances which left five police officers injured ahead of Saturday’s Copa del Rey final between Barcelona and Valencia, Spanish police have confirmed.
The majority of those detained were members of the Boixos Nois, a group of Ultras associated with Barca. The supporters clashed with police in the Nervion area of the city, where Sevilla play their home games.

BARCELONA, Spain — Ernesto Valverde said he doesn’t see Saturday’s Copa del Rey final as a chance for him to strengthen his position as Barcelona coach amid doubts over his future.
Valverde has come in for intense criticism following Barcelona’s collapse from 3-0 up to lose 4-3 on aggregate against Liverpool in the Champions League semifinals. It was the second time in as many years that Barca had surrendered a three-goal lead in Europe under the coach.
