Shane Long scored a dramatic stoppage time winner to lead Southampton to a 1-0 FA Cup third round replay win at home against Championship side Norwich.
Long’s scrappy 92nd minute effort set up a fourth round clash at home to Arsenal — but the laboured performance did little to restore the fans’ faith in under-pressure manager Claude Puel.

Nathan Redmond and Southampton were deserved winners, taking the game to Liverpool at St Mary’s.

Southampton took a big step towards their first League Cup final in more than 30 years by upsetting the form book with a 1-0 semifinal first leg win at home against a disappointing Liverpool.

Nathan Redmond’s early goal was enough to give the Saints a narrow, but deserved, lead to take to Anfield in two weeks’ time.

Redmond and Cedric Soares both missed gilt-edged opportunities to give the Saints a 2-0 lead, which would have put them within touching distance of Wembley.

Southampton forward Jay Rodriguez has hailed Tottenham Hotspur’s Mauricio Pochettino, telling The Daily Telegraph he was “the best coach, best manager and best person” he has worked with.
Pochettino managed Rodriguez at Southampton from January 2013 until leaving for Spurs in May the following year, and Rodriguez scored 17 goals in 2013-14 during Pochettino’s final season at St. Mary’s.
