League 1’s bottom-side AFC Wimbledon pulled off a massive shock by defeating Premier League club West Ham United 4-2 in Round 4 of the FA Cup.
Marko Arnautovic signed a contract extension at West Ham on Saturday, hours after declaring his intention to stay with the English Premier League club despite a “very tempting” offer from a Chinese team.
“I love this club and I will always love this club no matter what,” Arnautovic said in a statement released by West Ham. “You have decisions you have to make in life, but I say from now it doesn’t matter what happens I will always love West Ham.”

There’s still a Monday night game to come but the weekend review is not lacking for talking points as Nick Miller runs through the highlights and lowlights.

Goal of the weekend

It’s been a rough few years for Daniel Sturridge, with injury problems and a limp loan spell at West Brom keeping him from challenging for a place in the Liverpool team. He’s back now though, scoring twice against Chelsea in a week with Saturday’s effort both much more important and much better.

The frequency and over-ambition…

Andriy Yarmolenko and Marko Arnautovic teamed up to earn West Ham their first points of the season with a dismantling of Everton at Goodison Park.
West Ham United manager Manuel Pellegrini is facing a selection headache for Sunday’s Premier League game against leaders Chelsea as Marko Arnautovic could be ruled out with a knee problem.
Arnautovic’s form has been one of the few bright spots in an otherwise dreary start to the season for West Ham, with the Austrian scoring three of the team’s five goals in the league so far, including in their win over Everton last weekend.
The victory was West Ham’s first of the season in the league and lifted…

The ESPN FC panel rate the success of Jose Mourinho’s time at Manchester United and discuss his relationship with Paul Pogba.

Steve Nicol delves into the latest summer transfer rumours with Gareth Bale, Mario Mandzukic and Christian Eriksen headlining.

ESPN FC’s Man United expert Mark Ogden discusses the likelihood that Toby Alderweireld, Fred and Alex Sandro move to Old Trafford this summer.

Manchester United have been linked with a move for Marko Arnautovic and the supporters can’t work out what Jose Mourinho is thinking about.

The striker, whom Mourinho apparently travelled to Austria to watch this week in a friendly against Russia, fits the bill of the forward Mourinho usually goes for. He’s tall, strong and holds the ball up well. He’s got pace when it’s required of him and bullies defenders. However, Arnautovic isn’t quite what you would call a prolific goalscorer. He’s reached…

Marko Arnautovic’s 6th minute strike against Chelsea was enough to give David Moyes his first win as West Ham manager.

Gary Cahill did not hold back his disappointment following Chelsea’s poor result against West Ham.

Chelsea saw the last embers of their title defence burn out as they lost 1-0 to West Ham at the London Stadium.

The early kickoff seemed to catch Chelsea half asleep as the home side showed much more desire in the opening stages. Some dozy defending from the visitors allowed Marko Arnautovic to find space in the penalty area after 6 minutes and he slipped the ball past Thibaut Courtois for the game’s only goal. When Chelsea conceded early last week against Newcastle, it prompted a powerful response….

Stewart Robson is happy to see Joe Hart back in England but insists the goalkeeper has a lot to prove this season.

Stewart Robson assesses the pros and cons of a Javier Hernandez move to West Ham.

“Quality over quantity” is West Ham United’s transfer market priority this summer, according to joint-chairman David Sullivan last week. An unfortunate misspelling on the club’s website, since amended, had originally quoted Sullivan as wanting “quantity over quality”.

The slip served as a fitting description of last summer’s dealings, when 13 players came in and failed to make the team any better. The sole undeniable success was Manuel Lanzini, who had already spent the previous season on loan…

Marko Arnautovic making a lateral move is disappointing and leaves Stoke with a huge void.
Mark Hughes will start the season without one of his most prolific forwards, having seen the Stoke hierarchy reluctantly agree to the club-record £20 million sale of want-away winger Marko Arnautovic to West Ham.

It’s a hammer blow (no pun intended) to a manager who has found himself leaning heavily on the maverick talent who cost him under £3m when he signed from Werder Bremen in 2013. Sadly, in the end there was little he could do to change the mind of a player who had firmly signalled…

Paul Clement explains how Carlo Ancelotti’s influence will help him to fight relegation with Swansea.

With the Prem’s relegation battle in full swing, the FC crew look at who can survive, and how Swansea are slowly sinking.

Sitting two points behind 17th-place Hull with five games left to play, Paul Clement has described Swansea’s match against Stoke this Saturday as a “must-win” fixture. In truth, Swansea must win another couple of games beyond Saturday to have a reasonable chance of survival. Though the Swans’ recent play has been characterised by a baffling lack of intensity given their plight, perhaps the visit of an old rival can be a catalyst for a timely resurgence.

Stoke are no Cardiff City but while Swansea’s…

Mark Hughes expresses his delight at all aspects of Stoke’s game against Hull, capped off by a superb Xherdan Shaqiri goal.
Stoke managed to get back to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over relegation-threatened Hull in what was a less-than-convincing performance in front of an anxious crowd. An early goal from Marko Arnautovic appeared to settle the Potters’ nerves but individual errors and an inability to take their subsequent chances conspired to let the visitors back into the game.
Substitutes Jon Walters and Peter Crouch would combine to put the home side back in front, and then a moment of magic from Man of the…
