Nick Rimando stood strong in net for Real Salt Lake, but a deflected goal by Harry Shipp earned Seattle all three points. Real Salt Lake’s Kyle Beckerman was among three players suspended and fined by MLS on Thursday after violent conduct in last weekend’s games.
Beckerman tripped up his United States teammate Clint Dempsey with a hard swing of his trailing leg after intercepting a pass in the first minute of RSL’s loss to the Seattle Sounders on Saturday.
No foul was called for the tackle and play continued. Beckerman will miss this weekend’s match against Philadelphia.
