With the football season winding down, and the Africa Cup of Nations barely two months away, Nigerian players have been making performance statements all over Europe and beyond.
Freshly minted Super Eagles forward Paul Onuachu was the pick of the bunch in a month of fine offensive and defensive displays.

SFAX, Tunisia — It was a long and nightmarish northern summer for Nigeria striker Odion Ighalo, who has rebounded to not only top of the scoring list in these Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, but worm his way back into the hearts of Super Eagles fans.
After a dire World Cup campaign, where he was roundly blamed for the defeat to Argentina that saw the Africans crash out of the tournament, he’s gone on to score five goals in two qualifier games against Libya.
Scoring a hat-trick, he heard his name…

If Super Eagles fans had their way, Odion Ighalo’s international career would have been over at the final whistle of Nigeria’s last game of the 2018 World Cup.
The main cause for outrage was a costly miss against Argentina, which would have taken the Super Eagles to 2-0, and made Marcos Rojo’s late goal moot, sending the Nigerians to the round of 16.
Ighalo’s miss was not quite as bad as Yakubu Aiyegbeni’s from the 2010 World Cup against South Korea, but the reaction across the country was pretty…

Seven goals in eight games for Odion Ighalo. Three goals in eight games for Ahmed Musa, including two assists.
These are nowhere quite near being Mohamed Salah-esque numbers, but they make for consoling reading for anxious Super Eagles fans wondering where their goals will come from when they get to the World Cup in Russia this summer.
Gernot Rohr’s team have struggled to find the net in recent games.
Line-leader Ighalo blew hot during his early days in England, and he netted just once in 18 games…

Money may not have been as much a motivation as a desire to play at the FIFA World Cup, but Nigeria’s Super Eagles will have no shortage of cash after their comprehensive win over Cameroon.
At the last count, the Gernot Rohr-coached team will earn a total of about N75-million (about $202 000) in gifts, outside of their usual match bonuses, for the 4-0 win over Cameroon.
Emmanuel Udom, governor of Akwa Ibom State where the team played this World Cup qualifier, visited the squad on the eve of the…

Jason Dasey and PJ Roberts talk through the pick of the Chinese Super League deals on European deadline day.

Odion Ighalo completed his move from Watford to Chinese club Changchun Yatai on the final day of the winter transfer window.
First it was captain John Mikel Obi. Then forward Odion Ighalo followed. Now reports have emerged that midfielder Ogenyi Onazi and striker Brown Ideye could also be on their way to China.
Once considered the graveyard of football careers, the Chinese Super League is still not much higher up that particular totem pole despite attracting some of the world’s biggest talent, with obscene wages proving an irresistible allure.
If the last two moves go through, Asia’s money-spraying league would have claimed…

Odion Ighalo has told ESPN FC he would “love” to return to the Premier League in the future after completing a move from Watford to Chinese club Changchun Yatai.
