West Ham cap off a disappointing season with a 2-1 win at Burnley and finish 11th in the Premier League

Burnley ended their season on a low note, finishing 16th in the Premier League table after a 2-1 defeat at home to West Ham on Sunday.

Sam Vokes continued his fine run of goalscoring form, his fifth goal in five games giving the Clarets an early lead, but Sofiane Feghouli and Andre Ayew hit back for the visitors.

Sean Dyche’s men ended the season with three wins from their last 16 matches, and that they finish lower than Swansea City in the table demonstrates how disappointing recent results…

Sean Dyche approaches Burnley’s loss jovially, given their Prem survival, while lamenting strange calls by the ref. Burnley bring their most successful Premier League season to a close on Sunday when they welcome West Ham United to Turf Moor. Everyone at the club can reflect on a job well done.
Despite winning only once away from home all season — the recent 2-0 success at Selhurst Park — the Clarets were rarely in danger of going down.
The only time they spent in the relegation zone was after the first weekend of the campaign, when they lost 1-0 at home to Swansea City. It is testament to the fine work of Sean…

A late Josh King winner gave Eddie Howe’s side victory in their final home game of the season.

Sean Dyche approaches Burnley’s loss jovially, given their Prem survival, while lamenting strange calls by the ref.

Burnley fell to their 14th away Premier League defeat of the season, with Josh King’s late goal earning Bournemouth a 2-1 victory at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday. The Clarets deserved little from a game in which they were second best for the most part, with Sam Vokes’ headed equaliser putting them on level terms only briefly before King’s late intervention.

Another loss on the road for Sean Dyche’s team means they end the campaign with just seven points away from Turf Moor all season, a record…

According to Steve Nicol, defenders Michael Keane and Virgil van Dijk are on the same level in that they are solid defenders who have yet to prove themselves at the top level.
The Premier League is an unforgiving place, but Bournemouth and Burnley are showing the way forward for smaller clubs.
On Saturday the two clubs will meet at Bournemouth’s Vitality Stadium, with survival virtually guaranteed — although not quite mathematically for the Clarets — with two matches still to play.

Though both teams have little to play for at this stage of the campaign, they have the chance to finish in the top half of the league table, which would be a stunning achievement. But the…

Sam Vokes’ double for Burnley in their 2-2 draw with West Brom helped edge his side to survival.
Burnley edged to the magic 40-point mark with a hard-fought 2-2 draw at home to West Brom on Saturday, a result that does not quite secure survival but means only an extraordinary set of results would see the club relegated from the Premier League.
Sam Vokes scored the first and last goal of the game as the Clarets took the lead after the interval following a poor first half, with a draw a fair result between two evenly matched sides.

A point was always going to be crucial and that Sean…

Sean Dyche says he’s still not entirely convinced Burnley have sealed their place in the Premier League for next season.
James Tarkowski made his first Premier League start for Burnley last weekend and in excelling in his side’s 2-0 win at Crystal Palace, he gave manager Sean Dyche something to ponder.
With key defender Michael Keane virtually certain to move on to bigger things at the end of the season, the Clarets are going to have to replace arguably their star performer, with Keane the only player in the team to have played every minute of the campaign to date.
The England international has been linked with all…

Shaka Hislop breaks down the bottom six in the Premier League, but who joins Sunderland in the Championship next year?
Burnley’s first Premier League away win of the season finally arrived — at the 18th time of asking — as Ashley Barnes scored early and Andre Gray netted late to secure a 2-0 victory at Crystal Palace. Burnley move up to 14th place in the table and this result almost certainly secures their safety.

Positives
While Barnes’ goal was against the run of play, Sean Dyche’s side caused plenty of problems and could have easily scored more in the first half. Meanwhile, with Burnley clinging on in the…

Joey Barton has been banned from all football related activity for 18 months.
It was a shock to see Joey Barton banned from all football activity for 18 months.
Boss Sean Dyche described the punishment as “harsh” and while there is great sadness among Clarets supporters that Barton’s career has reached such a sad note, his absence will surely open the door for the massively popular midfielder Steven Defour to return to the side.
Defour’s season has been badly affected by injury and Dyche has often appeared to lack trust in the Belgium international, introducing…

Jose Mourinho made wholesale changes from their Europa League win against Anderlecht and leave Burnley with a 2-0 victory.

Jose Mourinho made wholesale changes from their Europa League win against Anderlecht and leave Burnley with a 2-0 victory.

Joey Barton looked nothing like a Premier League player as Man United easily handled Burnley on Sunday.

First-half goals from Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney saw an under-strength Manchester United through to an extremely comfortable 2-0 victory at Turf Moor on Sunday. Burnley have now won just one of their last 11 matches and a comeback was never likely. The Clarets weren’t even able to muster a single shot on target.

With Bournemouth, Hull City and Swansea City having collected important home victories earlier in the weekend, Sean Dyche’s side are left five points above the relegation zone and…

Michael Keane is set to leave Burnley in the summer.
The worst kept secret at Burnley is out – Michael Keane is set to leave at the end of the season.
Reports suggesting Keane has informed the club of his desire to move to another team will come as no surprise whatsoever to any Clarets supporters, as this has been on the cards for some time.
Even at the start of the season it seemed likely that it would be the last campaign Keane would play for Sean Dyche’s side, as he had two years left on his contract and there were few signs he was interested…
