With his MLS contract expiring after last season, Hamid opted to test himself in Europe and said he joined Midtjylland over an offer from Germany’s Eintracht Frankfurt because he had an opportunity to start.
But that promise never materialized…

Max Bretos and Herculez Gomez break down the United States’ roster for the Paraguay friendly on the latest episode of the Max & Herc Podcast.

Brad Guzan joins Taylor Twellman in the ESPN FC Heineken Boot Room bus to talk all angles of the USMNT’s World Cup qualifying debacle.

Work on a foundation is as critical as it is tedious. There’s little in the way of a visual or emotional payoff, but progress is impossible without it.

This is the work that is currently going on with the U.S. men’s national team and it’s as good an explanation as any as to why it needs to play matches ahead of a World Cup in which it won’t feature. Sure, a new manager (and a new GM for that matter) still needs to be hired, but now seems an opportune time for the process to begin for some and…

An experimental United States squad ended its annual January camp with a scoreless draw with Bosnia & Herzegovina at the StubHub Center in Los Angeles.

As the U.S. get set to wrap up January camp, Dave Sarachan discusses his experience and what he’s learned about the team’s young core. A low-stakes affair in front of a sparse Stub Hub Center crowd ended in a goalless draw as both the United States and Bosnia & Herzegovina rolled out young, inexperienced groups. For the USMNT, ending a nearly month-long camp without a goal and without a win will chafe, despite the uncertainty around the program.

Positives

Several young players got their first taste of international soccer in a period when integrating a new generation of talent is the program’s main focus. Both goalkeepers acquitted…

DeAndre Yedlin hopes to be a role model for the younger players in the U.S. squad and become more of a leader moving forward.

LISBON – Go through each U.S. World Cup team over the last 25-plus years, and there is steady progression of goalkeeping legends. You start with Tony Meola, move on to Kasey Keller, then to Brad Friedel, back to Keller before settling on Tim Howard. Sure, some handoffs were more seamless than others. The Keller/Friedel competition was more like a wrestling match, but there always seemed to be a fairly clear line of succession.

Of course, the U.S. string of either hosting or qualifying for seven…
