Those who have followed Mix Diskerud’s career closely are unlikely to say the 28-year-old was ever the walk-on-water type, much less to go as far as calling him a saviour.
However, the coach of Diskerud’s Ulsan Hyundai team, Kim Do-hoon, credited the player who has been nicknamed “Jesus” in the K-League with divine intervention after the one-time U.S. international scored a cheeky winner in their Asian Champions League match against Sydney FC on Tuesday.

New York City FC star Jack Harrison says he’s hopeful of more chances to prove himself for England after his recent experience with the under-21s.
New York City FC has entered a brave new world and plenty of eyes are watching.
The club’s majority owner is the City Football Group (CFG). It owns Manchester City among others and, from the moment the Yankee Stadium-based club was established in 2013, its relationship to the mother ship and, in particular, its Premier League club, has raised questions. Would NYCFC be a feeder team? A dumping ground for castoffs? Was the investment by CFG a way to skirt financial fair play (FFP) rules?
There has…

U.S. international midfielder Mix Diskerud has signed with Manchester City on a free transfer, agreeing to a new four-and-a-half year contract with the Premier League club.

Diskerud was cast aside by MLS club New York City FC — one of Man City’s sister clubs via City Football Group — at the beginning of 2017 and was on loan with Swedish club IFK Goteborg for the remainder…

Mix Diskerud said he sees a future at NYCFC.
Mix Diskerud said that he is in shape and ready to help Swedish side IFK Goteborg — even if it “took some zen to deal with” the events that led him overseas and back to playing his first league match in over eight months.
The U.S. international’s last appearance in a competitive league match came on June 15 of last year, when New York City FC fell in the fourth round of the U.S. Open Cup to the NASL’s New York Cosmos.
Then in December of 2016, Patrick Vieira replaced Jason Kreis as manager and…

Take a look back at the best goals from Week 1 throughout Major League Soccer. U.S. international Mix Diskerud has sealed a loan to Swedish side IFK Goteborg following his tumultuous exit from New York City FC.
NYCFC bought out Diskerud’s contract last week after he failed to make an appearance for the club after last June. He remained under contract with the league, but because of a no-trade clause, he could not join another MLS team.
An MLS source told ESPN FC earlier this week that the loan to IFK will provide “minor salary relief only” to NYCFC, which will remain responsible…

A survey of MLS players says the Seattle Sounders’ Osvaldo Alonso has the biggest reputation for crossing the line with his behavior on the field.
Alonso was by far the most popular choice in ESPN FC’s poll, with answers given on the condition of anonymity. The 31-year-old was named by 25 percent of 140 current MLS players, representing 21 teams. New York City FC declined to participate.
“He gets a lot of yellow cards,” one player said. “He may not be the dirtiest, but he hacks away at people.”

U.S. international Mix Diskerud is close to securing a loan to Swedish side IFK Goteborg, with a Major League Soccer source telling ESPN FC that the deal could be completed in the next 24-48 hours.
Swedish outlet Expressen was the first to report the link between Diskerud and Goteborg.
The source said the loan, if completed, would provide “minor salary relief only” to Diskerud’s former club, New York City FC, which would still be responsible for paying the bulk of the player’s wages.

New NYCFC DP Maxi Moralez shares his thoughts on having Pirlo and Villa as teammates and his plans to bolster NYCFC’s attack. New York City FC announced on Thursday that it has exercised its option to buy out the contract of U.S. international midfielder Mix Diskerud.
MLS rules stipulate that a team can buy out one guaranteed contract per year, and since NYCFC notified the league prior to the March 1 roster compliance deadline, Diskerud’s contract — which last year saw him earn $761,250 — will not count against the team’s salary budget.
However, the team will still be obligated to pay Diskerud his salary, at least for…
