With Bruce Arena expected to name his 23-25-man roster for this month’s pivotal World Cup qualifiers against in the middle of next week, the U.S. coach will have just one more round of games (in Europe, Mexico and in the domestic league) to decide which players he will call up and put on the field in the matches against Honduras and Panama.

Fabian Johnson has been sidelined with an Achilles tendon injury.
Fabian Johnson has said he is closer to a Borussia Monchengladbach return after struggling with Achilles tendon problems. 
The United States international, who last featured for The Foals in their 4-0 loss to Barcelona in early December,  hopes to make the matchday squad for the club’s first competitive match at Darmstadt on Saturday.
“I am no longer injured,” Johnson said on Wednesday. “I am headed into the right direction, but I have yet to reach my old level.”

The United States men’s national team will kick off their 2017 campaign with the traditional January camp, which opens on Friday. It’s a squad in the midst of a rebrand with new (and old) manager Bruce Arena now at the helm after the up and down Jurgen Klinsmann era came to an end in November. There’s plenty to accomplish, and little time to do so. Here are 17 goals for the Americans in 2017.
