As MLS and Liga MX mull a new tournament like the SuperLiga of the mid-2000s, Taylor Twellman says the time is right for a new competition.
Liga MX will announce a “binational” tournament “in coming weeks,” according to a statement from the league at the club owners’ meeting on Monday.
The tournament is expected to match up clubs from Mexico’s top-flight division with Major League Soccer sides, which ESPN initially reported back in February. 
ESPN Mexico has previously reported that the teams that will be involved are Cruz Azul, Tigres, Xolos and America from Liga MX and Chicago Fire, Real Salt Lake, Houston Dynamo and the LA Galaxy…
