Sebastian Giovinco is unavailable for Toronto FC’s upcoming match against the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday after sustaining a leg contusion in last weekend’s match against the Philadelphia Union.
Giovinco went down after a hard challenge from Union defender Oguchi Onyewu in the 44th minute of his team’s 2-2 draw, with Toronto coach Greg Vanney saying the 2015 Major League Soccer MVP was “sore” after the match.

During the holiday season, Brian McBride can only hope Sebastian Giovinco remains in MLS long-term. Sebastian Giovinco’s agent has been in touch with Toronto FC general manager Tim Betbatchenko regarding the two rich offers he said his client received from two unnamed Chinese Super League clubs.
The agent, Andrea D’Amico, also said in an interview with Canadian internet broadcaster Anthony Totera that Giovinco declined a loan to Barcelona last year because he is happy in Toronto.
