Sean Dyche is proud of his Burnley side’s stunning victory at Chelsea but knows it’s just the first game of a long season.
Republic of Ireland international Stephen Ward has penned a contract extension with Premier League club Burnley.
The 31-year-old, who scored during Burnley’s shock 3-2 win at champions Chelsea on Saturday, was due to be a free agent at the end of this season but is now under contract until the summer of 2019, with the option of a further 12 months on top of that.
Ward joined Burnley from Wolves in the summer of 2014 ahead of their new Premier League campaign and has nailed down a regular spot at…

Middlesbrough failed to ease their relegation worries after a goalless draw with Burnley.

Sean Dyche has no qualms with Burnley’s slow start against Middlesbrough, and says a point away from home is always crucial.
This match always looked likely to end goalless, with Middlesbrough struggling to score of late and Sean Dyche’s Burnley determined to scrap their way to Premier League survival.

English Premier League: Fernando Llorente (90’+2) Swansea City 3-2 Burnley
Swansea City edged a five-goal thriller at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday, Fernando Llorente powering home his second header of the game to secure a 3-2 win in injury-time.

Andre Gray’s brace had looked set to give the Clarets their first away win of the season, but considering Swansea hit the woodwork three times in the first half and that referee Anthony Taylor bizarrely gave the visitors a penalty for Sam Vokes handling the ball, it is hard to argue with the fairness of the result.
