Youngster Roberto Alvarado, 20, has been one of Cruz Azul’s most important players all season long.
Now that we are past the quarterfinals of the Liga MX playoffs, only four teams remain in the hunt for the 2018 Apertura title: Cruz Azul, Monterrey, Club America and Pumas. With a much-desired place in the next round, all four teams will be battling in the semifinal stage that kicks off this Wednesday.

Bans of Toluca’s Enrique Triverio and America’s Pablo Aguilar slashed

ESPN FC’s Alejandro Moreno shares his thoughts on the two, one-year bans that brought the Liga MX referee strike to an end.
Toluca’s Enrique Triverio and Club America’s Pablo Aguilar will not have to see out one-year bans for aggression towards referees, after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) reinstated the original punishments on Tuesday.
Triverio’s initial ban of eight matches and Aguilar’s for 10, handed out by Mexican federation, sparked outrage at the Mexican referees’ association, which went on strike on March 10 to protest the decision, causing round 10 of matches in the 2017 Clausura to be postponed.
