Alejandro Bedoya was voted MLS Player of the Week for his long-range goal in the Philadelphia Union’s 5-1 defeat of D.C. United on Sunday, after which he implored Congress to take action on gun violence following two mass shootings in the U.S. last weekend.

DeAndre Yedlin hopes to be a role model for the younger players in the U.S. squad and become more of a leader moving forward.
LISBON – Tuesday’s game between the U.S. men’s national team and European champions Portugal will be an opportunity for some younger members of the American player pool to get their first taste of international competition.
Players such as Schalke midfielder Weston McKennie, New York Red Bulls midfielder Tyler Adams and Sheffield United defender Cameron Carter-Vickers are among the performers in line to get their first caps. But throughout the past week there have been a few veteran heads by their…

Janusz Michallik reviews the United States’ group stage performance in the Gold Cup and notes the key performers.
CLEVELAND — As Alejandro Bedoya slowly walked towards the team bus, it was evident that his day’s work had come at a physical cost: “I got whacked on that first assist, so my ankle is feeling it,” he said.
But there was a payoff, too. Bedoya, operating as box-to-box midfielder, set up goals for Joe Corona and Kelyn Rowe, plays that proved critical in what was a 3-0 win over Nicaragua. The result enabled the U.S. to finish the first round of the Gold Cup atop Group B, edging out Panama, who defeated…

The choices that Arena made both with his roster and his lineup for last month’s World Cup qualifiers against Honduras and Panama provided the first real window into the current pecking order. And that information that…

A couple shots went just wide, but the U.S. couldn’t find the back of the net against Serbia in their first match of 2017.

FC’s Ian Darke and Taylor Twellman share their takeaways from the draw between the U.S. and Serbia as well as their standout performers.

U.S. head coach Bruce Arena was pleased with his side’s performance against Serbia despite the match ending scoreless.
Bruce Arena’s return to the sidelines with the U.S. Men’s National Team came in the form of a friendly against Serbia at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego. With the stakes just a bit higher than in a usual January camp friendly, the Americans ended the day with a slightly dispiriting goalless draw.
